When I first joined DOVE-NET many years ago my first post I can't even remember what it was but my first reply was MRO and it was something like "fuck off moron." Took me by so much surprise I remember it, but I got used to it after a while haha.
yeah but it's probably a good reason. it was probably a pedophile or something like that. there was also a guy who was a drug addict sysop who would tell other sysops his sob story and get money and computer parts to sell from other sysops.
Also it's a psychological thing. people like to get in mobs and attack. they like to gang up. but you can't really win when you gang up on me. I'm too smart and i'm too experienced.
I speak freely so people save up something i said before and then join in on a later attack. When I say something that's edgy people don't realize i've tried other methods and i get a bit miffed when ignored or jerked around so that's what comes next.
A recent example of saving it up is when i mentioned a sysop who was a real bad msg feed who refused to fix his issue. the bbs i was helping out was only getting msgs transfered once a week from his system.
In the past there's been weird shit where robert wolfe was sending emails complaining about my profanity on irc. pcmike looked it up and he found out that not only was I swearing less in a non abusive way, but the stuff he pointed out never happened.
Furthermore there's stories people make up saying I chase away new users and they never come back. That's a lie; i often take new sysops under my wing and i have done so for 20+ years. I have helped people late into the night when i only had a few hours to get to sleep to go to work the next day.
Only one time can i recall that a sysop totally went apeshit on me when i said he should read the documention because in the case with synchronet, the documentation is really useful. I said to have it open while doing things and use the search feature. he said i was just yelling RTFM at him and he got extremely pissed off and was using profanity . That guy i probably told to fuck off.
People love to hate, especially when beta males are involved. Especially when their own 'back yard' is full of plenty of trash. The people that really know me know i'm a good friend to anybody and i bed over backwards to a detriment to myself. I've devoted a lot of my time and money to the bbs community OVERALL.
That being said, It's obvious I don't care what people think. A lot of how these betas act towards me makes me chuckle.
